GLASS WORKING IN FURNACE
The School’s furnace is equipped to deal with all the typical hot Murano processes, from the blowing to the sculpture.
Among the furnace techniques, in particular the blowing discovered at the end of the 1st century BC in the Middle East and widespread in Roman times, it allows to create objects of daily use from furniture to lighting.
Through the blowing glasses are made, in particular the traditional Venetian goblet, plates and vases. It is applied to hot decorations of various types, developing complex techniques such as filigree and zanfirico, reticello, the processing of pipes and murrine and incalmo.
The processing of solid glass allows to realize sculptural works, objects of design and art.
PURPOSE OF THE COURSE
The aim is to become familiar with the basic techniques of hot glass processing and to carry out, through the practice of these ancient techniques, a leap in time, thanks to the continuous oral dissemination of the oldest production method vetraria.
The students will learn to take the glass from the oven (first raised) to prepare the core of the glass object (to marinate and blow), then to raise it later and give a first form to the glass mass, prepare a pontoon for hanging, turn the glass to the master, until the realization, first with a help then by themselves, of simple objects such as a glass or a bowl.
